The good: The Motorola Droid 2 Global offers world-roaming capabilities and has a faster processor than the Droid 2. The Android 2.2 smartphone can also be used as a mobile hot spot.

The bad: Battery life could be better.

The bottom line: The Motorola Droid 2 Global is a solid Android smartphone for globe-trotting executives looking for a BlackBerry alternative.

The good: The Motorola Droid Pro combines a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard into a compact design. The Android 2.2 smartphone offers enhanced security features for business users, as well as mobile hot spot capabilities.

The bad: The Droid Pro's HVGA display isn't quite as sharp as the competition. Call quality could be better. Paltry internal memory.

The bottom line: The enhanced security features and touch-screen-keyboard combo make the Motorola Droid Pro a nice BlackBerry alternative, but it still has some shortcomings.

The good: The Motorola Droid 3 features an excellent five-row QWERTY keyboard. The next-gen Droid also offers the latest Gingerbread software, a dual-core processor, and an upgraded 8-megapixel camera.

The bad: The Droid 3 lacks 4G. Compared with the competition, the smartphone's qHD display isn't that sharp and performance isn't as snappy. Call and picture quality could be better.

The bottom line: For Verizon customers who crave physical keyboards, the Motorola Droid 3 offers an excellent one, but the rest of the Android smartphone's improvements fail to impress.

The good: The Motorola Defy is tough enough to withstand everyday hazards with its tough Gorilla glass and rugged exterior. Features include a 5-megapixel camera, a music player, Wi-Fi calling, and GPS, and it ships with Android 2.1. Call quality is excellent.

The bad: The Motorola Defy doesn't take very good pictures and its rough-and-tumble aesthetic isn't for everyone. We also wished we didn't have to activate the Motoblur account to use the phone.

The bottom line: The Motorola Defy is a great midtier Android smartphone, especially for those who need a phone to be a little more protected against life's everyday mishaps.

The good: The Motorola Charm is a slim and portable handheld with a roomy keyboard and decent call quality. It comes with Android 2.1, a full HTML browser with Flash Lite, Wi-Fi, 3G, and GPS.

The bad: The display on the Charm is not as vibrant as most other Android phones, and the small screen real estate really makes MotoBlur feel more cluttered than ever. We also think the photo quality is not that good.

The bottom line: If you can look past its design pitfalls, the Motorola Charm is an affordable and usable entry-level Android handheld. Android power users, on the other hand, may want to look elsewhere.

The good: The Motorola Atrix 4G features a dual-core processor and a sharp qHD (quarter HD) display. The Android 2.2 smartphone has a sleek design and a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera for video calls, and an HDMI port.

The bad: No 1080p HD video recording or playback at launch. You can't install non-Market third-party apps. We didn't experience great HSPA+ 4G data speeds.

The bottom line: The laptop dock is a decidedly cool (and pricey) feature, but the dual-core Motorola Atrix 4G has plenty to offer on its own. The smartphone packs speed and high-end features into a sleek package and earns its place at the top of AT&T's Android lineup.

The good: The Motorola Atrix 2 has a sharp and colorful 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, HSPA+ support, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing camera, Webtop functionality, and it ships with Android 2.3.

The bad: The Motorola Atrix 2 no longer has the fingerprint sensor, and there is a slight shutter lag that will not please camera enthusiasts.

The bottom line: For the price, the Motorola Atrix 2 is an amazingly feature-packed high-performance Android phone for AT&T customers.
